More on the London Olympic Waterways
The news that the Bow Back Rivers are to close from 2nd July 2007 comes somewhat as a surprise. There have been many discussions about keeping the waterways open at leats right up to the Olympics and then just having the Lee Navigation open during the games themselves.
This effectively removes the potentiality for the Bow Back Rivers (or the London Olympic Waterways) to offer an alternative transport system to relive the road and rail modes of ‘delivering’ spectactors and athletes to the Olympics Site.
Hours and hours of debate on this seems to have gone to waste as the Olympics people have ignored what has been reasoned opinion. It seems they dont listen - but are instead convulsed by their existential excitement for a trashy games as the recent debacle on that awful games logo has shown - what drugs are the designers (and the ODA) on? Because the whole thing is going to be a repeat of the Dome no doubt. By the way I’m still waiting for Messrs Jackson, Peacod and Tay to contact me!
