Eateries on the up at Little Venice
The new Baker & Spice cafe that opened a couple of months ago and which offered 50% off its goods on the first weekend of opening has proved to be popular (the 50% off first weekend meant that my friend and I could afford to sample such an expensive cafe!)
The Ham & High has an item on the venue: Ham & High
The area has seen an increase in cafes over the past few years, no doubt due to the rich clientele who live in the area and Raoul’s now has two branches opposite each other. One is its main cafe and the other is actually a take away, the take away having the more affordable cappucinos that I can buy.
Cafe Laville, above the entrance to Maida Hill Tunnel, was bought out and refurbished after xmas. It re-opened in February, and I tired it once with a friend. Its now too expensive and sadly I dont think I’ll be ever able to enjoy those canal views down Blomfield Road again.
There are many downsides to being poor and living in an area of such exclusivity. My only real luxury is to sit by the canal and watch the world go by.
